Gypsum false ceiling: sheets or tiles?

A false ceiling hangs a little below the original concrete roof. The space between hides wiring, pipes and AC ducts, and gives you a clean surface for lights. Gypsum is the most common material for this in Pakistan because it gives a smooth finish, takes paint well and is easy to shape. We stock gypsum in two forms, and the right one depends on the room.

Gypsum Ceiling Sheet 4x8

Full sheets are screwed onto a metal frame, then the joints are taped and finished so the ceiling looks like one smooth surface. This is the choice for homes: drawing rooms, lounges, bedrooms and dining areas. Sheets can be cut into steps, curves, cove lighting and borders, so they suit designed ceilings. Once painted, the ceiling has no visible joints.

Gypsum Ceiling Tile 2x2

Tiles drop into a visible metal grid. Each tile lifts out on its own, so you can reach wiring, AC lines and pipes above the ceiling without breaking anything. This makes 2x2 tiles popular in offices, shops, clinics, schools and corridors. They are quicker to fit over large areas and easy to replace if one gets marked.
