How exterior texture is applied

The usual order is:

  • Clean the wall, remove loose material and fix cracks and damp.
  • Apply a suitable exterior primer, such as Jotashield Alkali Resistant Primer on new plaster.
  • Apply the texture with a roller or trowel to get the pattern you want.
  • Finish with a topcoat in your colour, commonly two coats of an exterior paint such as Jotashield ColourLast, or a glaze on Decor finishes.

Always follow the product label for exact steps and drying times, and avoid applying before rain. Texture work on a full house is best done by experienced painters, as the pattern must stay even across the whole wall.

Colours and quantity

Tinted topcoats and glazes are mixed to your code, the final price depends on the colour and tint used, and mixed paint cannot be returned.
