Roof protection and paint accessories from Jotun

Not everything in a paint job is wall colour. This page covers the supporting Jotun products that help protect your home and apply other paints correctly.

Jotun Roof Guard

Roof Guard is a Jotun coating for flat roofs and exposed concrete surfaces. Roofs in Islamabad and Rawalpindi take heavy sun in summer and rain in the monsoon, and a protective roof coating helps reduce the effect of weather on the surface. It is commonly applied before the rainy season.

A few practical points:

• Clean the roof well. Remove dust, moss, loose material and standing water.
• Repair open cracks and damaged areas first. A coating is not a fix for a broken roof slab or a blocked drain.
• Apply in dry weather, with enough time to dry before rain.
• Follow the number of coats and drying times on the label.

If you already have a serious leak, the cause needs to be found and repaired before coating. Send us photos and we will tell you honestly whether Roof Guard is the right product.

Jotun Thinner No. 2

Thinner is used with solvent based products, for thinning paint to the right consistency and for cleaning brushes and tools. Jotun Thinner No. 2 is used with products where the label specifies it, typically solvent based paints such as enamel. Always check the label of your paint for the right thinner and the amount to add. Adding too much thins the film and reduces protection. Water based emulsions for walls do not use this thinner.
