HDF laminate flooring: what it is and who it suits
HDF stands for high density fibreboard. It is wood fibre pressed very tightly into a hard, heavy board. A printed wood design and a clear wear layer sit on top. Because the core is denser than MDF, HDF laminate feels solid when you walk on it and holds its shape well over time. That is why it is our main flooring range.
Our HDF range
- 8mm HDF Laminate Flooring: 8 wood shades coded WB-1 to WB-8, from light tones to deep browns. The Swiss lock click joints lock each board to the next without glue, so fitting is quick and clean.
- HDF Laminated Flooring 8mm Walnut: a darker, warm shade that suits drawing rooms and offices.
- HDF Laminated Flooring 12mm Oak Natural: a thicker board with a natural oak look. Thicker boards feel more solid and help with footstep sound.
8mm or 12mm?
For most bedrooms and lounges, 8mm HDF is a sound choice. If the room gets heavy traffic, or you want a firmer, quieter floor, 12mm is worth a look. Ask us to show you both boards in hand at the shop. The difference is easy to feel.
Where not to use it
HDF handles everyday life better than MDF, but it is still a wood-based board. Do not fit it in wet bathrooms or areas where water can stand. Wipe spills quickly and use a damp mop, not a wet one. For kitchens and utility areas, have a look at vinyl flooring.
Measuring and fitting
HDF flooring is sold by area. Enter your room size in the room calculator to see how much you need, including a cutting allowance. Or book a home visit and we will measure for you. The visit has a small fee, fully adjusted in your bill when you order. Our own team fits HDF floors across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and checks the base floor before laying so the boards sit flat.
