Vertical blinds for large windows, glass doors and offices
Vertical blinds have long strips, called louvres or vanes, that hang down from a track at the top. You can turn the strips to let light in or close them for privacy. You can also draw them all to one side, like a curtain, to open the window or door fully.
Where vertical blinds work best
- Sliding glass doors: the strips draw to the side, so you can walk through without lifting a heavy blind.
- Wide and tall windows: one track can cover a large area neatly.
- Offices, clinics, schools and banks: a practical, tidy look that staff can adjust through the day.
- Floor to ceiling glass in lounges and stairwells.
Vertical or horizontal blinds?
For a wide window that is wider than it is tall, horizontal blinds like roller or zebra blinds often look better. For tall windows and doors that people walk through, vertical blinds are easier to use. Very wide horizontal blinds can be heavy to lift, and vertical blinds avoid that problem.
Measuring for vertical blinds
Measure the full width you want to cover and the height from where the track will sit to where the strips should stop. For glass doors, leave a small gap at the floor so the strips do not drag. Decide which side the blind should stack when it is open, so it does not block a door handle. Measure the opening or wall, not the glass. If you measure yourself, the sizes are your responsibility. If you book a home visit, our team measures and takes responsibility. The small visit fee is adjusted in your bill when you order.
